I am so excited to have time to play with new Catalog products! I hope you’ll check back often, as I am going to share lots of fun things in the next few weeks!
As soon as I thumbed through the new ’19-’20 Annual Catalog, the We’ll Walrus Be Friends stamp set caught my eye. I kept going back to it each time I would look at the catalog – it is SO cute and punny!
I sat down to play with this and wasn’t sure where to start. Whenever I get stumped I start scrolling through card sketches or past issues of our Demonstrator exclusive quarterly magazine, Stampin’ Success. I came across this past GDP challenge sketch and immediately knew the direction I was going in.
My mind went to the new High Seas 3D Embossing Folder and I knew I wanted my Walrus friend peeking out of a circle in the water!
I embossed a piece of Seaside Spray cardstock with the High Seas folder and used my 1 1/2″ Circle Punch to cut out a window. I used a sponge dauber to lightly add some color to the waves so they’d stand out a little more.
I stamped my image in Memento Black ink on Thick Whisper White cardstock and colored him with my Stampin’ Blends. I then punched him out with my 2″ Circle Punch – which, I guess wasn’t really necessary. He could be any shape as long as it is larger than the hole and doesn’t peek out from under the mat.
I made my card base with Seaside Spray cardstock and layered a piece of our new In Color Seaside Spray DSP from the 6×6 Stack onto it.
Originally, I planned to color his fishy friends and fussy cut them out and then I thought that it might be super cute if they were peeking out, too – and I was right! I used my 1/2″ Circle Punch to make their spots and added them to the card. I used foam dimensionals on my cardstock to give a little depth to it. My sentiment was stamped on Whisper White cardstock and punched out with my Classic Label Punch. I am all about the ease and versatility of punches, lately!
And no card (IMO) is complete without a little bling. The new Woven Threads Sequins are my JAM! They are all 5 of the new ’19-’21 In Colors and are gorgeous!
