Hi Crafty Friends!

I have a super fun card to share with you today! I am participating in the Inspire. Create Challenge #48 – Birthday Theme. This card was SO fun to make (and a little messy)!

Birthday cards are always something that I just do not have enough of at my house. I’m sure it’s the same for you, right? When I saw this challenge I knew I wanted to play along.

I had the Wish For it All stamp set sitting on my desk to use for an upcoming retreat and decided I wanted to use the cake. I actually CASEd the layout of the card from our Annual Catalog & Idea Book – it’s on page 65.

How cute is that?!

I knew wanted to emboss the cake in Stampin’ Up!’s new Shimmery White Embossing Powder and use the new Pigment Sprinkles on top for an ink resist technique. It turned out so much better than I’d hoped! I absolutely love the bright, vibrant colors of the Pigment Sprinkles! They’re amazing!

Ok – are you ready to see mine?

Isn’t it so colorful?! I just love it!

I used a Mambo Melon card base cut to 4 1/2″ x 11″ and scored at 5 1/2″. My mat is also Mambo Melon cut to 4″ x 5 1/4″ and stamped with the adorable lace image in the stamp set. I cut a piece of Bermuda Bay to 2 1/2″ x 4 1/2″ and my Watercolor paper is cut to 3″ x 4″.

I stamped my cake image in Versamark ink and covered it with the embossing powder, then heat set it. After it cooled (very important step since the embossing powder has glitter in it) I lightly spritzed the paper with water and sprinkled on my Pigment Sprinkles. I then spritzed more water on it to really get the crystals saturated and moving around. I blotted some of the water up with a paper towel once I had the colors the way I liked them. I used my heat tool to help dry the paper but I did it from the back of the paper, as not to keep heating the embossing powder to where it would burn. I could have also let it dry on it’s own but I was impatient and wanted to keep moving with my card.

I die cut the banner out of Daffodil Delight and stamped the greeting in Melon Mambo. I then added some sequins for some extra bling.

It’s really hard to see the glittery cake in the picture but it’s absolutely stunning in person!

I hope you enjoy this project as much as I do! This is a really fun bundle to play with! Purchasing them together (stamps / dies) also qualifies for an additional 10% off! When purchased in July, you’ll also get a $5 Bonus Day Coupon from Stampin’ Up! to spend in August!
